Just as email became popular 10 years ago, blogging is becoming popular now. 10 years ago, people had to be told repeatedly what email was and why they really needed an email address. Today most of us can’t do without it. Now one should understand what exactly a blog is and why it matters.
If you are 20 or younger, you probably know all about blogging already because you’ve been blogging for a long time now. Your friends have blogs,, you read their blogs and they read yours and in the process everyone is happy. But those people who are above 40, who work and have families to support, hardly getting time to think of other things, might not have heard the term or not paid much attention to it yet.
It is nothing but the act of producing a blog and the word blog is a short form of web log, a “log” of entries like a diary which are published on a web site. A blog originated in this fashion, with publishing their daily thoughts for everyone else to read on their website.
Every day you have to work for your blog, create content and create posts for your blog. Daily updating the blog is very much important if you really want your blog to be actively monitored or read by the search engines.
Blog entries are mostly short comments on something interesting found on the web, or in the course of your daily routine , or an opinion on something you found interesting, an idea, an angry outburst or even a suggestion. Sometimes they are longer, thoughtful commentaries.
Depending up on the popularity of the blog, new entries are produced every few minutes, and sometimes very infrequently. It all depends on the author and what they want to convey and express.
Blogging has now evolved and means more than diary entries. Blogging is easy and quick publishing of content to a website. Apart from text, content can be photographs, recipes, videos, restaurant reviews, or anything that can be digitally stored on a computer.
A blog can be a recipe site or a fan club, a journal or of topical comments. It depends on the author’s personal interests and hobbies. The author of the blog posts his comments and information after categorizing it and the blog is open for others to add their views, comments and content.
A good blog is one which has many active visitors and links with other blogs. What is the use of maintaining a blog where you are the only visitor? As a blog’s author, you can allow your visitors to comment on your entries, their comments are then published as well. When others find your blog interesting, they link to you as well through their own blog or website. All of this helps build a group of people who share a common interest in each other’s content.
There have even been a few lucky people who have blogged and were contacted by Publishers to write and publish a book! The potential with blogging is endless.
